This is the scene on our way to town to check the mail at the Post Office. Ducks and occasionally a loon or heron can be spotted in the cove. I always look forward to seeing who may be there. Do you have a favorite spot for viewing wildlife?
Hi Sian, Isn't wonderful to have wildlife within view of your window! Our yard borders a brook and we get some unusual visitors sometimes. I especially loved seeing the porcupine way up in the willow tree in the spring. Nan
That's a beautiful painting. I'd so love to live there :)
I love to lay in bed on a spring morning and watch the birds fill the old hawthorn tree outside our window, and I really love to be woken by the dawn chorus. When they settle down and go quiet later in the year, I feel like I'm holding my breath until they start again!
Gillian, thanks so much for visiting and for the lovely comment about the painting and snow! I haven't checked my Maine Memories blog here in a while and will be more diligent from now on. I have 2 other blogs:
I'm an artist/illustrator specializing in ink and watercolors and photography. My little studio in Maine is nestled in our garden by a babbling brook. Everyday I draw inspiration from pets, garden, birds and wildlife critters, quaint old houses, children, shells, scenes of the seaside and more. Hope to share my art and observations with you and don't forget to take a moment to notice the precious little things around you every day.

I am lucky that I live in the country so I see lots of wildlife and it is very often right outside my window

Hi Kim,
What a beautiful description of the dawn chorus...I think you may be hearing that sooner than us!

I really like this painting. I have always been fascinated by snow and you have captured it's beauty so well in this picture.
