Missing Maine

Maine
I love the connection I feel with nature and
the sea, the birds and wildlife that visit our
yard, my kitties and the inner peace I feel
when at home in Maine.
Being away from home for several weeks,
I find myself yearning for Maine.
My husband, who is home with the kitties,
e-mailed a photo
of the tree outside
my studio/gallery window this morning.
It gives me a sense of serentiy!
What do you miss when you are away from
home?

Hi Nan, Your setting seems idyllic, I imagine you would miss the beauty. I miss the cats most, but I miss the farm too. It's a very peaceful place surrounded by fields and trees. I can barely see my nearest neighbor's silo from my home. I always get a little claustrophobic if I'm away long.

BTW, one of my favorite authors is Elisabeth Ogilvie. I fell in love with Maine thru her books.

Hi Nan. What a beautiful tree. When i was a kid, there were large beautiful hardwood trees on three sides of my parents' house and they made a special secret woods for me. Now almost all those trees are gone, replaced by houses. Much as i love my current little house and its quiet view of farmland, what i miss the most when i'm away is my kitties!

Hi Marnie & Quiltcat,
I really do miss my cats so much.
My husband actually holds the phone close to their faces and I talk to them and can hear their sweet purrs in the phone. It's wonderful!
It sounds like you both live in very peaceful settings. A deep freeze is coming our way ( am still in Conn.)...it will be worse in Maine. Stay warm and thanks for writing!

I love your blog header, very beautiful.

I miss the Welsh accent when I am away from home. When I hear strange voices around me I feel so dislocated.

Hi Sian,
thank you!
Hearing strange voices would be very disconcerting! Take care!
